Jersey Mike's makes Great Subs & makes a Difference

During Jersey Mike's Month of Giving during March they raised nearly $1100 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. These funds will help support research into the disease that affects thousands, including Nick Harman a sophomore at Heritage HS (right side in wheelchair). Nick had a lot of friends with him the day I dropped in. Across the table from Nick is his mom Leslie, his twin sister Rachel, then Greg Switaj owner of Leesburg's Jersey Mike's, Mike Wagner, Brian Deeth & Matt Switag (all of Jersey Mike's). | Funny, whenever I'm on the east side of town around lunchtime, I feel this magnetic pull towards Jersey Mike's. One of my favorite foods is a well built sub and Jersey Mike's certainly knows how to make 'em. As a national corporation, Jersey Mike's is one of those firms whose culture is to find ways to give back to the community. Leesburg's Jersey Mike's is no exception. Owner Greg Switaj seems to always be working on a charity promotion, whether it be a benefit for the local firehouse or a national cancer drive. Corporately the entire month of March was designated the "Month of Giving" and the Leesburg store partnered with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The day I visited you could buy a sub for a buck and all proceeds that day went to the MDA. As you can see below they were busy, with the line frequently stretching to the door. Store manager Brian Deeth said that for the entire month they raised nearly $1100. It's a great day when you can enjoy a good sub while contributing to a wonderful charity. Greg Switaj told me that their next fundraiser begins in May and goes through the summer, this time benefitting the "Susan B. Komen for the Cure" cancer charity. Guess I better plan on eating a few subs then...Brian, please make mine a #5, "Mike's Way"! |
